Update: 7 months, 31 weeks, 1 baby

Hello world!

Life in the Burr home has been BUSY the past few weeks, with lots of wonderful things happening. We moved into our new apartment in Springville, started school, started the 2011 BYU football season, and a week ago we celebrated my 22nd birthday. Those deserve their own posts; and once I get my camera back from a friend, I will post, post, post!

As for now, I will just give a little baby update. I am 31 weeks, with 9 to go! I cannot believe how quickly time has flown. I have friends that are in the early stages of their pregnancies, and although I feel like I was in my 11th, 12th, or 13th week just yesterday, it seems crazy that I am 4 to 5 months ahead of them! Woo wee, time flies -- But alas, I am in the final stretch, the fourth quarter of the game, the final lap of the big race! My bump in the front is more like a mountain. By the time week 39 rolls around, I'm going to look like a walking Mt. Everest. I never imagined what it would actually feel like to be so pregnant, and when people ask me what it feels like, I like to give weird analogies that I've cooked up. Here are a few:

(when people feel how hard my belly is, I say)
It feels like a paper mache'd balloon full of baby has been glued to my body.

(when I am trying to explain why my back hurts, I say)
It feels like a beach ball full of heavy rocks has been attached to my stomach.

(when people ask me how it feels to feel the baby moving all the time, I say..and this is my favorite..)
It feels like I am awake during surgery and can feel the doctors moving my insides around with their hands, but it doesn't necessarily hurt.

There you have it. When you are pregnant you are as big as Mt. Everest, your belly is as hard as a paper mache'd balloon, your back aches as if a beach ball full of heavy rocks is hooked to your front side, and when your little bundle moves, it feels like a never ending internal surgery.

Sweet, huh?

In all seriousness, it is pretty dang sweet. We are SO excited about our baby's arrival into our lives. The spirit that fills your home as you're about to welcome a little one is something that I've never experienced. It is special, and has brought Brooks and I that much closer to each other and to our Heavenly Father. Although the sleepless nights and uncomfortable conditions are hard, I am beyond grateful that I have an opportunity to bear a child. It is such a blessing, and I do not take it for granted.

Grow baby, grow!

(31 weeks: ignore the stupid face. Or don't, you choose)

Jena out.

Those are some great analogies- except for the surgery- that's weird. Just kidding. I always thought I had an alien growing inside me- that or a parasite- I mean it was literally eating me alive. I love the little flutters in the beginning though- that was my favorite. Josh had hiccups ALL THE TIME and they were SO annoying. When I found out he had his cord wrapped around him FOUR times they said that hiccups are common when babies are wrapped up like that. So then whenever Jacob got hiccups I would freak out- but my Dr. always said it was normal. You sure look adorable! Can't wait for this cute baby either!!

I agree with the surgery thing. If you end up having to have a C-section, you'll get to compare! Lol You look adorkable in the picture and I can't wait to see how gorgeous your little gal is going to be. If you need ANYTHING, let me know! I'm not a super experienced mom, but I might not be totally clueless. :)

Hee hee, I love those analogies, couldn't agree with them more! Good luck on the final 9 weeks. They are uncomfortable, but that only means the end is in sight! I am so excited for you.
